Tameside Women’s Centre is a safe, women only space. This means that it can only be accessed by female service users. However, we do have male staff on site.
We provide a holistic range of support from the Centre including groups and drop ins. We have a creche facility, which is available for some of our courses.

We offer refuge and dispersed accommodation for women and their children. Our refuge is staffed 24/7 and Families are supported by a dedicated keyworker during their stay with us. Our support is both trauma informed and practical. We encourage women to access our many support programmes and engage in the local community and at our Women’s centre.

Domestic Abuse Support:
- VOICE (Victim’s of intimate coercive experience) – A domestic abuse course – 1 session per week for 10 weeks. Courses scheduled to begin every 3 months. We have daytime as well as an Urdu speaking course. Some of the courses have a creche facility. Please contact us for course details and booking links.
- Domestic Abuse Drop in – Fridays – 9:30 -12:30 – If you need advice or support – drop in for a chat with a staff member – we can support a referral into service if required – no booking necessary.
- LAVA – Life After Violence and Abuse – Peer support group – Mondays – 11 – 12
- Flourish Virtual Reality – Wednesdays – 1-3pm – A 4 week domestic abuse course delivered in a small group using a VR headset, hence the experience is individual and interactive and may be suitable for those who are not comfortable attending groups. Please contact us to make a booking.
- Civil Legal Surgery –
- Tuesdays – 11 – 1pm – legal advice available weekly from Lord, Cox & Salt
- Thursdays – every 2nd and 4th week of the month from 12.30 – Seek legal advice around protective orders or family court proceedings – Bromley’s Solicitors
Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

- Craft for Calm – Mondays 12.30 – 2.30 – A craft group for women who struggle to relax.
- Health and Wellbeing – an opportunity to talk to an NHS health worker around support for physical and mental health. Please call us on 0161 331 2552 or email us: bridges@jigsawhomes.org.uk
Parenting Support
- Daisy Chain – Mondays 9.30 – 12 – A Parenting Programme with a focus on the impact of Domestic abuse on children – requires referral – creche facility available. Please contact us on 0161 331 2552 / bridges@jigsawhomes.org.uk for further information on how to book.
- New Beginnings – 24-week programme for parents in the child protection process. Aims to reunite children back home from care. For more info please email info@nbfoundation.co.uk
Support with finances and debt
- Citizen’s Advice Surgery Women only, Bridges clients. Mondays 9 – 12 – Booking not required.
Support with social isolation
- Coffee Morning – Tuesdays 9.30 – 11.30 – Drop in – booking not required – meet staff and other women for a brew and a chat and find out more about other sessions on offer at the centre.
Employability Support
- Empowering Women/Empowering Futures – Thursdays 10 – 12 – 6-week Life skills course – covering, money advice, budgeting and future goals.
